With conferences midweek and weddings at the weekend there has been plenty for the chefs and event managers to execute these past few days.
A couple of the conferences weren’t particulary large and the delegates only required one of the smaller rooms at Coombe Lodge for their seminars. The Apple conference run by Western Computers on the other hand, with more than 100 delegates, took over most of the ground floor - using the large Music Room for power point presentations and other spaces as breakout areas and to assemble their display stands.

There was a small window of opportunity between weddings this week to carry out sanding and oiling the wooden floors in the main function areas. The clouds of dust produced during the sanding have now been swept away, the protective light covers removed and so - all thanks to the team who started early and worked late to produce an excellent finish to the floors - it's already back to work as normal....

Coombe Lodge is busy with weddings all year but last week, rather unusually, we had two different events on one day - a conference for 80 day delegates and an evening dinner for 12. It was a long but highly successful day with a 7.00am start for the North Somerset Council conference and ending late, after the private dinner. Coombe Lodge had donated the evening meal to Blagdon Golf Society’s fund raising event in aid of Children’s Hospice South West ….

It’s mid-December with traditional festive decorations in situ but it’s not Christmas weddings that couples have in mind when they have been visiting recently. Many have come to view the new bedrooms, that Coombe Lodge now offers the bridal party, before booking them. The feedback has been wonderfully positive.

The latest stage for improving wedding options, by offering accommodation within Coombe Lodge, is near completion. Seven of the bedrooms, which are available overnight for the bridal parties, are now finished. The luxury rooms, all with en suite bathrooms, have been refurbished with style and comfort in mind. A couple of the bathrooms have retained their Art deco style whilst the newer ones are decorated in a contemporary manner and enhanced with under-floor heating. There will be more information on the accommodation available on the Coombe Lodge website in due course. In the meantime a huge thank you to everyone who's worked on this project including Alexandra Cork of Home Design for her professional input with styling the rooms.

Mixed emotions at Coombe Lodge – happiness at the safe arrival of head chef’s baby Leah and sadness as Lindsey leaves for Australia. Lindsey has worked at Priston Mill and Coombe Lodge for a number of years and has been a cheerful energetic exemplary member of the team. We wish her well in her new life but there is no two ways about it, she will be sorely missed.

The Coombe Lodge name has reached an all time new height - 5685metres!
Congratulations to Megan Chastney & Sophie Webb who successfully climbed to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro with enough strength left to wave our T-Shirts in front of the camera. Congratulations too for raising well over £5,000 in aid of Childreach International with the help of family, friends and sponsorship from local businesses.
Working at Coombe Lodge, however long their shifts, must seem so effortless for them both now....
