What a great weekend for weddings – and not just for William and Kate. At Priston Mill we have had dry sunny weather and celebrations with wonderful flower arrangements, splendid cakes, fantastic bridal dresses, stylishly dressed guests and, not to be outdone, vintage cars too.
It has truly been a most perfect Easter weekend for weddings here. I'm not sure if it is because of this amazing April weather or because of the Royal Wedding but nearly all the couples viewing on Saturday were keen to book April dates next year. There were rumblings of thunder and rain threatened at one stage but luckily, especially for the couple who had planned a humanist ceremony outside, the weekend remained dry.
It is not only the guests that enjoy the attractive gardens we have here. Peter especially takes a great interest in them particularly as he can be credited with their original design. Les and Luke are proactive in maintaining the lawns and we have Stephen to thank for bringing his professional knowledge to bear especially with pruning and plant choice. The aim is to have some colour all year round and we are well on our way to achieving this. The photo here shows one of the new Tythe Barn flowerbeds that Stephen recently created.
Congratulations to Emma Lilley who has worked at Priston Mill for over 2 years. We have just found out that she is the Bath Spa University Institutional Off Campus winner for Student Employee of the Year. This award recognises the outstanding contributions and achievements of students who effectively combine part-time work with their study commitments. We wish Emma luck as she now goes forward to the South West Regional Student Employee of the Year at Bath Spa University. We are delighted to have her and all the other young students who make up the professional and friendly waiting team here.
At Priston Mill our greatest asset is the people that work here. The Event Managers pay a great deal of care and attention to training the waiting team so that they perform confidently and professionally from their very first shift. As a result we get excellent feedback about them, with the words ‘friendly’, ‘helpful’, ‘professional’ registering highly. Emma Lilley in particular, who has been working with us for 2 years, deserves a mention. She has been entered into the ‘student employee of the year competition at Bath Spa University. Helen, Event Manager, pictured here training the latest enthusiastic recruits, remarked that "in the many thank you messages we receive, guests often name Emma personally." We wish Emma luck in the competition.
